Currently, researchers at QCGC are working on a number of risk prediction calculators to estimate the chances of surgical complications, survival and or cancer recurrence. These calculators, though primarily intended for use by health care professionals, can also be used by patients. This will help patients and health care professionals to discuss and decide on further management options or to determine eligibility for participation in innovative clinical trials.

Below, you will find links to two risk calculators. One is designed to estimate freedom from recurrence/relapse among patients diagnosed with uterine cancer. The other is to estimate the chances of having adverse surgical outcomes within 6 weeks of surgery.

1. Risk calculator to estimate cancer recurrence among patients diagnosed with uterine cancer

To use this calculator, you will need
1) Age at the time of diagnosis
2) Stage of the disease (the extent to which the disease has spread)
3) Grade of the tumour
4) Histological type of the tumour
5) Whether the lympho-vascular space is involved
6) Depth of myometrial invasion and
7) Status of peritoneal washings

2. Risk calculator to estimate the chances of having an adverse surgical event

To use this calculator, you will need
1) Type of surgical approach (Laparatomy or laparoscopy)
2) Charlson’s index

3) Grade of the tumour (on D & C)
4) ECOG Score
5) Haemoglobin levels just prior to surgery

3. Risk calculator to estimate cancer recurrence among patients diagnosed with ovarian tumours of low malignant potential

To use this calculator, you will need
1) Age at the time of diagnosis
2) Stage of the disease (the extent to which the disease has spread)
3) Histological type of the tumour
4) Whether conservative surgery was performed and
5) CA125 levels prior to surgery
